As the Sudirman Cup comes closer, BAI has named the India squad for the prestigious tournament. Even though India qualified based on their rankings, they will be keen to make an impression to push through for knockouts.
The biggest plus point for India will be the return of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. This duo has wreaked havoc in the opposition camp before, and the Indian badminton team would be hoping the same this year.
Indian Badminton Squad For Sudirman Cup
As the BWF Sudirman Cup matches come thick and fast, India has named a 14-member squad that is bound to make an impact. The Sudirman Cup will start on 27th April in Xiamen, China.
In order to make the right impression, BAI has named a squad that consists of both young and experienced players, who can take India forward to the elusive title.

Men’s Squad For The Sudirman Cup
As the return of Rankireddy and Shetty has pushed the hopes higher, the team looks good both in terms of skills and experience. Not a lot of players are injured in the men’s category, and they have the experience set of Lakshya Sen.
The upcoming talent HS Prannoy has also made it into the squad with new faces like Ruban Kumar. The overall men’s squad includes:

Along with the men’s squad, BAI has also named the women squad for the tournament, even though there were injury concerns in the women’s department. Injuries to Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly meant that they had to make a last-minute adjustment.
Young stars like Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra will have to step up and make their mark. The women’s team will be led by the experienced PV Sindhu.

India Placed in a Tough Group
The badminton world might be assured about the talent and skill set of India, but the challenge that lies ahead is critical. India is placed in the Group D, which is often called the group of death.
They will be up against former champions Indonesia, two-time runner-ups Denmark, and the title contenders England. Even though India made it to the list, based on rankings, the journey won’t be easy.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has named the squad based on strategic requirements, but clearing the early matches and advancing forward will not be easy at all.
Sanjay Mishra’s View as BAI Named the Squad
The General Secretary of BAI, Sanjay Mishra, expressed strong satisfaction with the selected squad. He stated that the selection committee has chosen the best players across all five categories, despite a few injury concerns.
Sanjay also clarified that India isn’t dependent on one or two factors, but a combined team that will make them a serious contender for the title, acknowledging the team members’ capability.
