This Saturday Richardson Hitchins successfully defended his IBF light welterweight title. He brutally defeated the Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr in the 8th round TKO on 14th June 2025 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. According to ESPN, Hitchins had a total of 52.7% of punches while Kambosos didn’t even strike back his half, returning only 19.7%.
Following a glorious victory, Hitchins announced himself as a free agent and further dropped news for a potential bout against Devin Haney or Teofimo Lopez.
The undefeated 27-year-old (20-0, 8 KOs) is in the boxing world to dominate.
Hitchins Destroys Kambosos in NY! IBF Title Defended in Style
Richardson Hitchins came out fired up and defended his title beating George Kambosos, 34, like it was everything he’s worked for.
The American boxer entered the ring like a fire ball, untouchable and dangerous. Soon after the fight started Hitchins began hitting Kambosos with left punches, making it hard for the defender to throw his own shot. When Kambosos aimed to hit low, Hitchins punched Kambosos directly to the chin.
After that chin hit what he realized was that his opponent was too tough to beat by head punches. So, he switched his strategy, aiming at the body instead.
By the 5th round of the fight, Kambosos was already in brutal condition, but when Hitchins tried to finish the fight, Kambosos defended. This made Hitchins even more furious and in the 8th round, he began chasing Kambosos down and throwing harder punches.

Then Hitchins made a powerful punch and finished the game with the referee deciding Kambosos couldn’t continue as seen in the several social media posts.

This was Hitchin’s first title defence bout, winning the title defeating Lia Paro on 7th December 2024 via split decision at Roberto Clemente Coliseum, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Hitchins vs. Kambosos Jr. fight was mind blowing. I was thrilled to watch how Hitchins changed his strategy once he acknowledged his opponent’s weak point. He then bashed him and sealed the victory. Since the boxer has already dropped hints for his next fight with fellow undefeated Devin Haney I am overwhelmed for the neck to neck battle.
