At the first-ever WAVES Esports Championship (WESC) in Mumbai, Indian gamers Danial βDaNiALβ Patel and Tejaskumar Bhoi made history by winning Indiaβs first international gold medals in esports, showcasing the countryβs rapid rise in competitive gaming.Β
The event, part of the WAVES Summit and hosted by the Esports Federation of India, featured top players from five nations competing in titles like eFootball and WCC3, with DaNiAL and Tejas emerging as standout champions.
DaNiALβs Masterclass in eFootball
Representing India in eFootball, DaNiAL faced fierce competition from international powerhouses, including Malaysia, Thailand, and Laos. But with nerves of steel and sharp gameplay, he made his way to the finals, where he had a face-off against Malaysiaβs Mohamad Azrudin Bin Yaacob.
Before the final, DaNiAL took down Southiphone Singthong from Laos with a thrilling 5-3 win and then edged past Nathawat Satake of Thailand 2-1 in a nail-biter. In the grand finale, DaNiAL showed complete control, defeating Azrudin 2-0 and earning India its first gold in eFootball on a global stage.
After his win at the WAVES Esports Championship, DaNiAL shared his feelings, saying, βWinning the international leg of WAVES was an unforgettable experience. Competing on a global stage pushed me beyond my limits… WAVES gave me not just a platform to showcase my skills, but also memories and connections that will last a lifetime.βΒ
His humble and grateful response proves that champions aren’t just made by skill but by heart, too.

Tejas Dominates the WCC3 Arena
While DaNiAL was owning the football pitch virtually, Tejas was smashing it in WCC3 β a cricket-based mobile esports title loved across South Asia. His journey to the top wasnβt any easier.Β
He went head-to-head with Sri Lankaβs Mohamad Shaad Mohamad Uvaiz and Nepalβs Rajat Budathoki in a round-robin format and then the finals.
Tejas outplayed both with a dominant performance and remarkable focus. He sealed his title with a solid win against Budathoki in the finals, bringing home Indiaβs second gold medal at the WAVES Esports Championship.
“The world’s waves may crash loud, but the calm of a focused mind always wins the league,” Tejas said in a poetically composed response when asked about his experience at the WAVES Esports Championship.Β Β
In addition to shaping coastlines, waves also mold the spirits of those who dare to ride them. In his remarks, he captures the emotional and spiritual journey of competitive gaming, which is a fine balance between enthusiasm and accuracy.
An Important Victory for Indian EsportsΒ
DaNiAL and Tejas’ triumph represents a revolution in Indian sport in addition to two gold medals. Vinod Tiwari, the president of ESFI, proudly credited years of tenacity, intellect, and government assistance for the victory.
A proud chapter for India in international esports came to a fitting conclusion with the medal presentation held during the Creatosphere Awards. The WAVES Esports Championship made a lasting impression, and in addition to medals and prizes, India is now a significant force in the world of esports.
It is evident that India’s esports future is not only bright but also golden, and the WAVES Esports Championship is only the beginning, thanks to expanding opportunities, government support, capable players like DaNiAL and Tejas, and solid leadership.
