In an exclusive interview with Sports Star, IOCL chairman Arvindar Singh Sahney said on Saturday, βOur association with and promotion of sports is well known. Kapil Devβs Take on Golf
The former cricketer began focusing on golf seriously after his cricket career officially came to an end in 1994. He later became actively involved in golf administration as a board member of the PGTI around 2021. In June 2024, he was appointed President of the PGTI.Β
Around late 2024, Kapil Dev shared in interviews that, βI wish I had played golf while playing cricket. I would have had 2000 extra runs.βΒ This illustrates that he started seriously engaging with golf post-retirement but has come to value it as a key part of his life after cricket.
Bigyan Sameleβs POV
I think Kapil Dev getting involved in golf is a really positive step for the sport in India. His cricketing legacy and reputation have helped PGTI bring a lot of attention. Certainly, his leadership is focused on growing the game, attracting sponsors, and putting India on the international golf map. What a feat after serving India so long, his appearance in Servo Masters golf 25th editionΒ is really exciting.
