  • Venue: SM Indoor Stadium, Jaipur
  • Date: Sept 25, 2025

A thrilling draw of 36-36 in a game that was played at the SMS Indoor Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday, UP Yoddhas fought to win against Bengaluru Bulls in a tie breaker. The Yoddhas kept their nerves in order to secure the tie-breaker 6-5, which earned the team three valuable points in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12.

The teams swapped All Outs, and towards the conclusion of the match, they did not disappoint them by creating some form of heroism, which made the fans stay till the end.

Bengaluru Bulls Take an Early Lead on PKL 2025

Bengaluru Bulls had a strong beginning to the game. Alireza Mirzaian had a prolific start, raiding, efficiently scoring and claiming bonus points at significant times. Gagan Gowda countered for UP Yoddhas, but Bengaluru’s defence was reliable and successfully denied the Yoddhas any rhythm in their performance.

In the middle of the first half, Bengaluru put in the first All Out of the match to extend the score to 15-7. Their pace in raiding, mixed with cohesion in defence, led you to think they would run away with the game.

UP Yoddhas Fight Back

UP Yoddhas slowly gained back control of the match with their efforts on disciplined defence and offensive timing. The corner defenders, led by Sumit, closed Bengaluru’s options aggressively, which caused Bengaluru to self-destruct.

Bhavani Rajput began to take some control of the attack, chipping away at the lead with well-timed raids. Roaring at the end of the first half, UP Yoddhas had an All Out of their own to cut Bengaluru’s lead down to 20–19 at the break. All was set for a nail-biting second half.

Second Half: Yoddhas Shift Momentum

The latter half of the game saw UP Yoddhas having the advantage. Bhavani Rajput remained in form, executing successful raids and scoring bonus points. Sumit and Gagan Gowda combined in defence and did not allow Bengaluru to take advantage of mistakes.

Halfway through the second half, the Yoddhas placed Bengaluru into another All Out, and extended their lead to 31-26. Bengaluru attempted to fight back, led by Mirzaian in raids and defensive stops from Sanjay and Yogesh. The Bulls cut the game to two points in the end and set up a finish that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Mirzaian Forces a Tie

With time running out in the second half of regulation, Bengaluru was behind 36–33 and desperately needed a major raid to stay in the game. Alireza Mirzaian came through with a super raid, totalling three points and equalising the match 36–36. His miraculous performance late in the action took matters to the tie-breaker, heightening the tension for both teams and all those in attendance.

Tie-Breaker Decider

The tie-breaker was hard fought. Up Yoddhas were the first to score, followed by a successful tackle. Bhavani Rajput added a bonus point to the UP Yoddhas’ score, with them leading 5-3. Bengaluru scored next, but did not make the score even. The final raid left the Bulls a point short, resulting in the UP Yoddhas winning the tie breaker 6-5.

Implications for the Season

This victory is vital for UP Yoddhas after their previous setbacks because they aim to steady their season. To win against a solid Bengaluru team while under pressure can only provide confidence in their potential to compete in tight matches.

For Bengaluru Bulls, the loss is disappointing. They dictated much of the game and fought back to make it a tie within the final seconds, but ultimately fell short in the tiebreaker. If Bengaluru wish to resume their progress, they will need to provide Mirzaian with added support and be consistent in the rest of the season.

Fans and Reactions

Fans commented on social media to show enthusiasm for the performances, particularly praising Mirzaian’s super raid in the final seconds of the match and consistent work by Rajput throughout the game. The official Pro Kabaddi handle described it as one of the most thrilling matches of the season and tweeted out the highlights of the key moments.

Looking Ahead

The UP Yoddhas will look to carry their momentum into the next match. While the Bengaluru Bulls will need to recover quickly to stay in the points table race. With every game counted as vital in Season 12, even tight finishes like this could play a big role in playoff spots.

Jyoti Sharma’s Take on

The UP Yoddhas’ 6–5 win over Bengaluru Bulls in a tie-breaker was a wonderful display of resilience and tactical brilliance under pressure. Yoddhas were in the game all along, thanks to Bhavani Rajput’s Super 10 and timely tackles by Sumit, and the way Alireza Mirzaian secured the game right at the end was brilliant.

Beyond boosting the team’s confidence, the finishing tactic indicates they are perfectly capable of managing the pressure of high-stakes situations, which is significant considering where we are in the PKL 2025. While Bengaluru Bulls displayed plenty of toughness and grit, the Yoddhas demonstrated composure in precarious moments that was the difference.

As the moment builds towards the latter part of this season, this match could serve as a springboard to signal that UP Yoddhas are contenders for the playoffs.
