Another delay hits the mat! The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup awaits its moment after the Pro Kabaddi League 12. Sports Star reports, this is the second time the event has been rescheduled. Originally, the second Women’s Kabaddi World Cup was set to be held in Bihar from June 1-10, followed by Hyderabad from August 3 to 10.
The first Women’s Kabaddi World Cup was held in Patna, India, in 2012. And this postponed tournament will be only the second one after a 13-year long gap.

While everyone was thrilled for the 2nd Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, the constant rescheduling of the tournament has stirred quite a buzz.
Because this isn’t the first time the event has faced delays. It was originally planned to take place in June 2025 in Rajgir, Bihar, but the schedule saw a change to be held in Hyderabad from August 3 to 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.

People were relieved when the August dates were announced, but guess what? It’s been postponed yet again.

However, there is a chance the tournament would be held in Hyderabad after the conclusion of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 12, as reported by various sources.
Reportedly, the PKL is set to begin on 29th August in Visakhapatnam, and organizers are concerned with scheduling conflicts. Hence, the authorities are aiming for the World Cup to take place smoothly once the domestic league is over.
The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), in a letter to the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), reported that the action was due to the late submission of team administrative documents, leading to difficulties in gaining official sanction from the concerned Ministries.
The rescheduled event does not affect the existing list of participating countries. Overall, 14 countries are taking part in this tournament.

Jyoti Sharma Views to Women’s Kabaddi World Cup Postponement
For me, it doesn’t seem professional to keep rescheduling an international tournament repeatedly. Indeed, it affects the reputation of the tournament and its organizers too.
As per my research, Bangladesh has already announced their squad, naming Ruplai Akter as captain, and was planning to depart for India on the 1st of August. After all the preparations and all set to leave the country to represent it on the international stage, just imagine how drained they must have felt with a sudden postponement.
The authorities must take responsibility for this kind of disorganized approach, and it needs to be promptly addressed.
