Surprises sprung one after another when Sahaja and Vaishnavi advanced to the second round of the Oasis Solapur Open.
As a result of their dedication and preparation, Sahaja and Vaishnavi won their respective matches with ease. The Solapur District Lawn Tennis Tournament, however, won’t get any easier for them as they progress further.
How Sahaja-Vaishnavi Secured Her Place in Round Two
Sahaja and Vaishnavi, both, were brutal with their games. In the Oasis Solapur Open held at MSLTA Tennis Center in Solapur, they walked past both of their opponents towards a very easy win.
Sahaja Yamalapalli, who is also the defending champion, pushed away qualifier Ishwari Matere to win a 6-0, 6-0 game. Easier said than done, she didn’t let the qualifier make any mark.
On the other end, Vaishnavi Adkar also defeated the wildcard entrant Madhurima Sawant like a walk in the park. The 6-0 and 6-1 score tells the story of her domination. Her super 16 challengers need to look out.
Overview of the Oasis Solapur Open Tournament
According to the Tennis Federation of India, the MSLTA SDLTA 25K ITF women’s tennis event has been a massive success. All the Indian ladies have done a brilliant job securing wins at will.
Besides Sahaja and Vaishnavi, Riya Bhatia lost to Bunyawi Thamchaiwat of Thailand and Pooja Ingale lost to Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajanoah from France. Poor performance was delivered by the two.
To the surprise of many, Smriti Bhasin and Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi caused major upset to Valentini Grammatikopoulou from Greece and Ekaterina Yashina from Russia. Not a lot of viewers gave them a chance.

The Road Ahead for Sahaja Vaishnavi
Vaishnavi has been a stellar performer for the country. With her win over Madhurima Sawant, she has progressed into the round of 16.
In the round of 16, Adkar will go up against Reyngold Ekaterina from Russia. She is known for her speed and elegance on the court.
Following her loss to the Indian pair in the mixed double section, expect a spirited performance from Reyngold. Adkar needs to be careful about it.
Significance of Vaishnavi’s Progress in Indian Tennis
Not only Vaishnavi Adkar but the impact of other Indian female tennis players in the Tennis scene of India is massive. It is a well-known fact that women’s tennis isn’t highly supported or celebrated in India.
Through this win and the attainment of the Super 16 spot in the MSLTA SDLTA 25K ITF Women’s Tournament, expect more females to take up the sport. This win and reaching the top 16 will create a positive wave around the country.
Other Standout Performances at Oasis Solapur Open
Moving our focus from Vaishnavi and Sahaja, it is important to talk about other players. In the doubles, Ishwari Matere and Yashaswini Panwar defeated the Indian pairing of Aakruti Sonkusare and Sahira Singh.
Meanwhile, a surprising win came for the pair of Smriti and Sravya to defeat Valentini and Yashina. It was a close win with 6-4 and 6-2. The doubles victory of India doesn’t stop right here.
Akanksha Dileep Nitture and Soha Sadiq went on to defeat Diana Marcinkevica and Viktoria Morvayova from Latvia and Slovakia. It was a 6-0, 0-6, and 10-7 score reading. A strong performance indeed.
