Bengaluru Torpedoes Claim Prime Volleyball League 2025 Trophy

Bengaluru Torpedoes has successfully claimed the Prime Volleyball League 2025 title following the win over Mumbai Meteors in the final held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Sunday. In the one-sided match, Torpedoes dominated Mumbai with the scores of 15-13, 16-4, 15-13, clinching their first-ever title in the tournament.

Prime Volleyball League 2025: Bengaluru Torpedoes Clinched the Title

History has been made in the Prime Volleyball League 2025 as the Bengaluru Torpedoes have won their first-ever tournament title after defeating Mumbai Meteors in the grand final of Season 4. Held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, Torpedoes completely dominated the game as they managed to win via straight sets of 15-13, 16-4, 15-13, despite both teams starting the contest with cautious and strong defense. 

The two teams began the match in a very cautious manner, focusing more on solid defense and controlled counterattacks. Mumbai’s Petter Alstad Ostvik defended against a premature spike by Bengaluru Joel Benjamin, but the Torpedoes retaliated by having Jishnu block Shubham Chaudhary. Bengaluru started picking up with fantastic serves by Sethu, compelling Mumbai to spend a super point at the beginning of the first set. Bengaluru captain and setter Matt West was very leadership-oriented, and as he shared the ball well to enable his team to win the first set by 15-13.

The second set in the final of the Prime Volleyball League 2025 witnessed Bengaluru defeating Mumbai by all means. Sethu started with a super serve, while the unforced errors of the Mumbai attackers, such as captain Amit Gulia and Shubham Chaudhary, did not benefit them. Mumbai had a young star called Om Lad Vasant who made attempts to motivate his team, but the Torpedoes, with their constant assaults by Joel Benjamin, were too overwhelming. Bengaluru had a decisive two-set lead via 16-4 with another super serve by Joel.

Jalen Penrose came on board in the third set and threw furious spikes, delighting the fans. Mumbai tried to make a recovery with very powerful counters of Shubham, but the Torpedoes kept their cool. A super point call by coach David Lee was bold, and it proved successful as Penrose made a perfect spike. Although later Mumbai was able to win a super point, a service failure by Nikhil made Bengaluru win the final set by 15-13, respectively.

Following the maiden title win over Mumbai Meteors, the head coach of Bengaluru Torpedoes concluded the final match with the famous saying, “We overpowered them with serve, pass, and pure heart.” Along with this, several awards were presented to different players who performed throughout the tournament.

It was incredible seeing Bengaluru Torpedoes win their maiden Prime Volleyball League 2025 title, that too in the most dominating fashion possible. With a very close contest in the very first set of the final, Bengaluru made an incredible comeback in the second and final set to clinch the victory in straight three sets. The game changer of the final, Sethu, and the player of the match, Jishnu, contributed well with the serve and defense throughout the game, taking the team out of crisis. 

For Mumbai Meteors, it was a good learning experience in the Prime Volleyball League 2025 final and will be looking to make a comeback in the next season of the tournament. It will be exciting to see how the next season will unfold with several teams eyeing the title.
