China Women's Volleyball League

After a long wait, Jiangsu won the China Women’s Volleyball League title in an exciting way, beating Shanghai 3-1. The game on Tuesday finished with a 2-0 win, ending an eight-year wait for a championship for Jiangsu.

The exciting final was full of ups and downs, with Shanghai taking the lead at the start.  But Jiangsu, with Wu Mengjie in charge, made a great comeback in every other set, finally claiming the Volleyball Champions title.

Shanghai’s Early Domination Shakes Jiangsu

Shanghai began the game with a lot of energy, using their solid blocking to get a quick 19-11 lead in the first set. They played hard and won the set 25-17, putting Jiangsu in a tough spot.

Jiangsu’s Strategic Comeback in the Second Set

Jiangsu came together again and, in the next frame, made their defence stronger, stopping Shanghai’s middle attack well. The 6-0 run changed everything, helping Jiangsu win 25-21 and tie the match at 1-1.

Neck-and-Neck Battle in the Third Set

The third set was very close, with a score of 22-22.  But Jiangsu’s three attackers—Wu Mengjie, Gong Xiangyu, and Zhang Changning—made a big difference.

Their teamwork helped them win the set 25-22, bringing them close to winning the championship.

Fourth Set: Shanghai’s Collapse and Jiangsu’s Moment of Glory

Shanghai looked ready to take the match to a final fifth set, ahead 22-16 in the fourth. The pressure was high, leading Shangai to make mistakes in the game, which Jiangsu utilized with full force.

Jiangsu then scored 8 points uncapped, ending with a big shot from Wu Mengjie to win the championship.

Wu Mengjie: The MVP and Jiangsu’s Star Performer

Wu Mengjie was the star player who helped Jiangsu win. In the first game, she scored 18 points, leading her team. On Tuesday, she kept it up with 17 points and won the Most Valuable Player award.

Looking back, Wu said, “The start of this league was hard for me, but I have improved a lot. Winning this title makes my goals clearer.”
