In the match held on Sunday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, Guardian’s Prince was awarded the Player of the Match award for his heroic performance in the must-win PVL 2025 match.
Prime Volleyball League 2025: Goa Guardians’ Magical Comeback
The Goa Guardians made one of the magical comebacks in the Prime Volleyball League 2025 as they defeated the Delhi Toofans by 3-2 in the match held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. What is more exciting is that Guardians were two sets down, 14-16 and 11-15, but later fought back in an incredible fashion, winning the next three sets 15-11, 16-13, and 15-11, sealing the memorable victory.
The game started on a good note, where the two teams matched each other point by point in the first set. Delhi’s Jesus Chourio and Muhammed Jasim were at their best, while Goa’s Dushyant Singh and Jeffrey Menzel attempted to counter their aggressive style. Despite Goa’s efforts, the Toofans’ Anu James and Chourio won the first set by 16-14. The second set rested on their momentum as Delhi overcame the set with Carlos Berrios attacking and setter Saqlain Tariq giving flawless assists, and they won the set, 15-11, and led 2-0.
The Guardians were not going to surrender in their final game of the Prime Volleyball League 2025, though. The third set saw a change in the course of the game with Nathaniel attacking sharply and Chirag Yadav putting the pressure on serving. Prince, who was then declared Player of the Match, played a high-profile defensive role with his timely blocks. Goa won the third set by 15-11 and started fighting back.

The fourth in the PVL 2025 set was drama-filled because Delhi appeared to be determined to end the match. However, explosive spikes of Jeffrey Menzel and the domination of Prince at the net gave Goa an advantage. The moment of revelation was when Prince capped the set with a magnificent super serve that made the match even at 2 all, causing the crowd to go mad.

The final set was even more interesting as both teams went neck-to-neck to win the match. Goa’s Prince was not in the mood to stop anytime soon, while Delhi’s Anu James tried to rally the team even at the last moment. However, at the end of the set, Chirag Yadav’s powerful strike helped Guardians Goa win the set by 15-11 and the match by 3-2, respectively.

From the writer’s perspective, the comeback delivered by Guardians Goa in the Prime Volleyball League 2025 till the final set of the game is something every team should be inspired by. Despite losing the first two sets in the game, Goa’s Prince kept playing the defending role, blocking the attacks from the front. The final three sets for Goa were the most crucial ones since it was the moment that tested the team’s coordination and strength as a whole.
With the win, Goa has secured fourth place in the Prime Volleyball League 2025 points table. While there are no games left for Goa Guardians in the PVL 2025 group stage match, Delhi Toofans will face Kolkata Thunderbolts on October 22 before the semi-finals.
