Kochi Blue Spikers vs Calicut Heroes

Kochi Blue Spikers have successfully registered a victory against Calicut Heroes in the Prime Volleyball League 2025 match held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday by 15-13, 9-15, 15-8, 15-13. With the attacks from different positions throughout the match, Moushin Pa earned the Player of the Match award, keeping Calicut under pressure from the very beginning of the set.

Here are the highlights of the game between Kochi Blue Spikers and Calicut Heroes in brief.

Prime Volleyball League 2025: Spikers’ Famous 3-1 Win Over Calicut

In the Prime Volleyball League 2025, the battle between Kochi Blue Spikers and Calicut Heroes ended on a thrilling note at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad as Kochi Blue Spikers sealed the match by 3-1 (15-13, 9-15, 15-8, and 15-13), dominating from the very beginning of the set.

Kochi started the game in a very energetic manner as the blocker Jasjodh Singh got the first point for the team. Along with him, Erin Varghese made a brilliant super serve, which enabled the Spikers to have an early lead, though Calicut star, Ashok Bishnoi, tried to maintain the pressure in response. The rhythm of attacks used by Kochi was momentarily stopped when the captain and setter of Calicut, Mohan Ukkrapandian and blocker Shameem formed strong plays in the middle. Despite the efforts, Kochi led the first set with the score of 15-3.

Calicut regained possession in the second set, with Shameem and Santhosh meshed together, pressuring the defense of Kochi, with the quickness of Bishnoi on court giving Calicut a super point and the set, making the game a draw at 1-1. Kochi attempted to reassert itself by reintroducing Amrinderpal Singh into the field so that it could reinforce its blocks, but Calicut never allowed it to stop, leading Calicut to win the set by 15-9.

The third set, though, witnessed Kochi take back control. The Spikers succeeded in forcing Calicut to their defense through the clever play made by Jasjodh and the steady attacks of Erin. Although Mukesh played extremely well as the libero of Calicut, Amal had accurate shots and Moushin had clever setting that gave Kochi an advantage to continue scoring and they led the set by 2-1.

The fourth set was intense compared to the other sets as Calicut put up a late fightback with the help of Abdul Raheem. They tried to pull the game to the fifth set, but Kochi held their nerves, absorbing all the pressure. Amal and Erin scored two back-to-back super points that allowed Kochi to gain the momentum in a short period. Hemanth displayed an all-round performance in both attack and defense, allowing Kochi to secure the memorable victory by 3-1 in the Prime Volleyball League 2025.

Jyoti Sharma’s View

As a long-time volleyball follower, I was thrilled to witness the battle between Kochi Blue Spikers and Calicut Heroes on October 19 in the Prime Volleyball League 2025, where Spikers overcame Heroes in the fourth set of the game by 3-1. Kochi’s pressure from the very beginning of the set allowed them to lead the game by 1-0, while Heroes made a comeback, levelling the set by 1-1. Following the second set, Kochi snatched the momentum and won back-to-back sets, securing the victory by 3-1, respectively.

With only three fixtures left in the group stage matches of the Prime Volleyball League 2025, Kochi Blue Spikers will face Ahmedabad Defenders on October 21, while Calicut is left with no matches.
