On Wednesday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, the Mumbai Meteors defeated the Bengaluru Torpedoes with scores of 15-13, 15-13, 18-20, and 15-10 to capture the top spot in the Prime Volleyball League 2025 points table. Shubham Chaudhary was named Player of the Match for his fine performance, which also confirmed the Meteors’ position in the first semifinal.
The Meteors finished at the top of the standings, and they will face the fourth-ranked team on Friday in the semifinal. The second-ranked Torpedoes will face the third-ranked Ahmedabad Defenders in the second semifinal.

The Meteors got the match underway in fine form, with setter Om Lad running plays from the middle. Mathias Loftesnes and Shubham Chaudhary kept the Bengaluru Torpedoes’ back court honest with sharp spikes. Even though Jishnu P.V. and Mujeeb M.C. did a good job blocking, Shubham found ways to slip behind their blockers and create points for a slight lead by Mumbai.
With Matt West absent, the Torpedoes’ setter Sandeep was able to find Joel Benjamin a few times through the middle, but Mumbai’s Petter Ostvik was aware of it and made some huge blocks. Amit Gulia also provided averages for the thunderous spikes and helped the Meteors win the second set 15-13.
Bengaluru proved resilient in a competitive third set. Jalen Penrose worked with Mujeeb to create a defensive wall. Even though Amit Gulia continued to put up points from the outside, Bengaluru took the set 20-18 in another competitive set.
In the fourth set, The Meteors regained control of the set with some service pressure from Kamaal Karthik, which unsettled the Bengaluru Torpedoes’ back court, and Ostvik continued to combine for successful blocking in the middle. Lad’s crafty, slow serves caught Penrose off guard and provided the opportunity for Mumbai to pull away again to a 15-10 set.

Semifinals Setup: Prime Volleyball League 2025
The Mumbai Meteors finished first overall and will play the fourth team in the first semifinal. The Bengaluru Torpedoes, who finished second, will play the Ahmedabad Defenders in the second semifinal.
This means that the Goa Guardians also qualified for the semifinals after the Delhi Toofans defeated the Kolkata Thunderbolts 18-16, 11-15, 12-15, 15-11, 15-12. The Guardians were led by Saqlain Tariq in the Player of the Match contest. The Guardians will play the Meteors in the first semifinal on Friday.
