Bangladesh wraps up the T20I series with an 8-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in a thrilling 2-1 series. This marks Bangladesh’s first ever T20I series win on Sri Lankan soil.
Batter Tanzid Hasan’s unbeaten 73 runs and Litton Das’s another valuable 32 led the successful chase, while all-rounder Mahedi Hasan’s 4-wicket haul aided in restricting Sri Lanka to a modest total.
[Trending] Breaking Down Bangladesh’s Series-Winning Performance
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first: the match kicked off with top speed, with Bangladeshi cricketer Shoriful Islam removing team rival Kusal Mendis in the first over.
Then Dinesh Chandimal (SL) got into action, surviving two dropped catches by Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mustafizur Rahman before being dismissed anyway.
Next was Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka, who failed to handle Mahedi’s impressive bowling and was clean-bowled.
Further, Pathum Nissanka scored 46 runs but was ultimately dismissed by Mahedi on a caught-and-bowled chance. By the 11th over, Sri Lanka were already struggling at 66 for 5.
The Bangladeshi team found it a little hard to dismiss Sri Lankan Dasun Shanaka, who continued his innings, scoring 35 runs. With that, Sri Lanka’s total climbed to 132 for 7 in 20 overs.
With Litton Das surviving an LBW appeal in the second over by successfully reviewing the decision, it influenced Bangladesh’s performance.
Das kept looking for boundaries throughout his innings and hit a powerful shot over square-leg off Fernando in the next over, contributing to Bangladesh’s early momentum.

Sensational wicket-keeper-batter of Bangladesh, Das, 30, was awarded the Player of the Series in the T20I series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. His impressive record, 114 runs at an average of 38, was key to Bangladesh’s series win.
He made his T20I debut on 5 July 2015, vs South Africa, and has since played 101 games.
