India made history once again in cricket. The Indian Women’s team, which had visited England recently, has won the bilateral series for the first time in history after they defeated the hosts by a 3-1series victory.
During the 4th T20I between ENG-W vs IND-W at the Old Trafford Ground, the Women in Blue disappointed the hosts by securing a six-wicket victory. Similarly, the final match in the series is yet to be played in Birmingham this coming Saturday.
Before this series, England had never lost a five-match series against anyone in the shortest format.
[TRENDING] Historic Win for India
The Indian Women’s team has created history in England after they successfully sealed a historic series victory over England by winning the fourth of the five-match T20I series. The Women in Blue dominated the entire series of the ENG-W vs IND-W T20 2025, especially the fourth match, where they won the match by six wickets at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Wednesday.
Following the dominating win in the fourth T20I match, India has led the series by 3-1, with the final match left to be played at Edgbaston on Saturday. The winning moment on July 9 got even more interesting as it was 26 years ago on July 9, 1999, when India thrashed England to win their first ever ODI series on their home soil.

Coming into the fourth match, India was leading the series by 2-1 and was confident of adding another win to their lead. England won the toss in the 4th T20I match and opted to bat first.
England looked confident and started positively since their openers Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Sophia Dunkley made an incredible partnership. But unfortunately, the momentum was broken by Indian bowler Shree Charani when she dismissed Wyatt-Hodge in the third over.
Following this dismissal, England’s Dunkley played a responsible innings of 22 off 19 balls until Deepti Sharma dismissed her. From the Indian Women’s team, Deepti Sharma, Shree Charani, and Radha Yadav picked up six out of seven wickets, leading England to fall short on runs and somehow reaching 126 runs in 20 overs.
But it was the day for the Indian Women’s team as they were also exceptionally good at the batting unit. Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana scored 56 runs under five overs, which gave them a quick start. Following their dismissal in 31 runs and 28 runs, Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur added another 48-run partnership. Rodrigues remained unbeaten, guiding India to victory with three overs to spare.

Amit Mishra’s Perspective on India Women’s Historic Win Against England
From a writer and cricket lover’s point of view, the Indian Women’s team victory at Manchester to seal the series victory is historic since there has not been any team to beat England in a five-match series, especially in the short format. India has time and again proved to be one of the best teams in the world despite falling short in major ICC tournaments. The fifth T20I match in ENG-W vs IND-W will be interesting as England will be looking to make a comeback, but unfortunately, they have lost the series anyway. With this pace, the Indian Women’s team will definitely win the upcoming ICC tournament.
