Four teams secured their places in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup after dominant quarter-final performances at the ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia on Thursday. Thailand, Hong Kong, UAE and Indonesia all won their respective last-eight ties with considerable margins, confirming their spots at Asia’s premier women’s T20 tournament later this year.
Quarter-Final Results: Four Group Leaders Deliver on Promise
Thailand opened the quarter-final action in Kuala Lumpur against Nepal. Wicketkeeper-batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai top-scored with 62 as Thailand posted 130 for 4. Nepal never looked comfortable in the chase and were bowled out for 74 for 7, handing Thailand a 56-run win. The result continued Thailand’s unbeaten run throughout the tournament.
UAE made equally short work of hosts Malaysia in the second Kuala Lumpur quarter-final. Theertha Satish carried the batting with an unbeaten 65 off 53 balls, guiding UAE to 138 for 2. Malaysia fell well short, finishing on 86 for 5 as UAE wrapped up a 52-run victory with minimal fuss.
In Bangi, Hong Kong beat Japan by 41 runs in a largely one-sided contest. Yasmin Daswani provided the batting backbone with 55 not out from just 36 balls. The bowling was equally impressive, with Maryam Bibi claiming 3 for 17 and Marina Lamplough finishing with 2 for 11 as Japan’s chase never gathered momentum.
Indonesia produced the biggest margin of the day, defeating Oman by 113 runs in a commanding display. Captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini hit 51 to steer Indonesia to 137 for 7. Oman then collapsed dramatically, bowled out for just 24 in 11.5 overs. Ni Made Putri Suwandewi was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 4 for 11.

Semi-Finals Set as Kuala Lumpur Hosts Knockout Deciders
With the four qualifiers confirmed, attention now shifts to Friday’s semi-finals, both scheduled in Kuala Lumpur. Thailand will face Indonesia in one tie, while Hong Kong take on the UAE in the other. All four teams have shown strong form throughout the competition, making both matches difficult to call.
Thailand’s batting depth and steady performances through the group stage make them a strong opponent, while Indonesia’s ruthless bowling display against Oman shows intent. The Hong Kong versus UAE match-up looks equally competitive, with both sides boasting match-winners across departments.
