West Indies have named their squad for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Jamaica, bringing back Ackeem Auguste, Jewel Andrew and Shamar Springer. The series begins at Sabina Park on June 11, with games also scheduled for June 13 and 14.
The three players return in place of Johnson Charles, Quentin Sampson and Jayden Seales, who were all part of the T20 World Cup squad. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph was left out as part of planned workload management and was not considered for selection.
Who Are the Three Recalled Players
Ackeem Auguste is 22 years old and has played nine T20Is for West Indies so far. Jewel Andrew, just 19, has five caps in the format after making his debut against Pakistan in Lauderhill last July. Shamar Springer is an all-rounder who has represented the West Indies on six previous T20I occasions.
None of the three are new name to the setup, but their returns signal a shift in the squad’s make-up following the World Cup campaign. Shamar Joseph, who had stepped away from the ODI squad for personal reasons, is expected to be available again ahead of the T20I series.
Shai Hope continues as captain, leading a squad that includes experienced names like Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein alongside the recalled trio.
First Series Since T20 World Cup in India
This series marks the West Indies’ first T20I assignment since the T20 World Cup held in India earlier this year. Head coach Daren Sammy described it as an important step forward for the team.
“This series is an important one for us as it’s our first since the World Cup in India, where the team played with passion, fight, and the togetherness that West Indies cricket is built on,” Sammy said. “Our focus now is to build on those foundations, continue growing as a team and make our fans proud with the way we compete against Sri Lanka.”

Sri Lanka arrived in Jamaica on the back of winning the ODI series 1-0, with the final two matches washed out. They showed enough in the one completed game to arrive with confidence heading into the shorter format.

What Comes After the T20I Series
The three T20Is at Sabina Park are the first part of a longer tour. After the Kingston matches, the two sides move to Antigua for a two-Test series, giving West Indies a full range of cricket across formats in the coming weeks.
The T20I squad is a blend of youth and experience. Alongside Hope, the batting unit includes Brandon King and Hetmyer at the top and middle order, while the bowling attack features Holder, Motie, Hosein and Shepherd. The recalled players add depth and competition for places.
With the next T20 World Cup cycle already underway for most sides, every series now carries added weight in terms of rankings and squad development. For the West Indies, getting off to a strong start at home against Sri Lanka will matter beyond just the result.
