Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets in the 64th match of IPL 2026 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 19. Chasing 221, RR got home in 19.1 overs with five balls to spare, largely on the back of a brutal 93 off 38 balls from teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The win moved RR to fourth place on the points table. A win in their final league game against Mumbai Indians will confirm their playoffs spot.
Sooryavanshi was named Player of the Match for his innings that included seven fours and ten sixes, finishing with a strike rate of nearly 245.
Marsh and Inglis Give LSG a Blazing Start
LSG won the toss but RR elected to field. It did not go well early. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis took apart the RR bowling attack from the first over itself. Marsh went after Jofra Archer immediately, hitting him for a four and a six in the opening over. Inglis was equally destructive, working the ball square and behind square with ease.
By the end of the powerplay, LSG had 83 runs on the board without losing a wicket. Inglis brought up his fifty off just 23 balls before wristspinner Yash Raj Punja bowled him for 60 in the ninth over with a wrong’un. Punja then removed Nicholas Pooran in the 13th over and finished with figures of 2 for 35 from four overs, giving RR some control in the middle phase.
Marsh kept going and brought up his fifty off 25 balls but slowed considerably in the back half of his innings, managing only 43 runs off his final 32 deliveries. He was eventually run out for 96 in the final over. Rishabh Pant contributed 35 off 23 before also falling in the last over as LSG closed on 220 for 5.
Sooryavanshi Turns the Chase on Its Head

RR’s reply started with Yashasvi Jaiswal doing most of the early damage. The stand-in captain hit four fours off Akash Singh in the very first over and was responsible for 39 of the 71 runs RR put up in the powerplay. Sooryavanshi, by contrast, was uncharacteristically quiet early, sitting on 11 off 12 balls at one stage.
That changed sharply in the ninth over. Sooryavanshi lined up Akash Singh for two sixes and three fours in a single over and from that point, the chase was never in doubt. He reached his fifty off 23 balls with a reverse-sweep and kept attacking every bowler in the LSG lineup. Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav both went for back-to-back sixes in successive overs.
Sooryavanshi was finally dismissed for 93 in the 14th over, caught off Mohsin Khan while going for his 11th six of the innings. With 53 sixes in IPL 2026, it puts him within reach of Chris Gayle’s all-time record for most sixes in a single IPL season, set back in 2012.

Jurel Finishes the Job for Rajasthan
With Sooryavanshi’s exit, RR still needing runs, Dhruv Jurel kept a cool head. He made 53 not out off 38 balls, steering the innings without taking unnecessary risks. South African Donovan Ferreira came in and hit 16 off 10 to close out the chase alongside Jurel.
RR crossed the line in the 20th over’s second ball, winning by seven wickets. The result leaves LSG rooted at the bottom of the points table while RR firm up their position in the top four heading into the final round of league games.
Rajasthan Royalsβ next match is against Mumbai Indians on May 24 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
