India outplayed Namibia by 93 runs in their Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday. All-rounder Hardik Pandya delivered a strong all-round performance, scoring 52 runs and taking two wickets to guide India to a comprehensive victory.
India posted 209/9 after being asked to bat first, with Pandya’s 52 off 28 balls and Ishan Kishan’s 61 off 24 balls forming the core of the innings. In response, Namibia was bowled out for 116 in 18.2 overs. Pandya returned figures of 2/21, while Varun Chakravarthy took 3/7 to dismantle the Namibian batting order. The 93-run victory margin is India’s largest in T20 World Cup history.
Hardik Pandya and Kishan Power India to 209
Hardik Pandya once again proved his worth as Indiaβs premier all-rounder. After being set to bat, India posted an imposing 209/9. He contributed a crucial 52 off 28 balls after being sent to bat. His innings, paired with Ishan Kishan, provided the perfect platform for Indiaβs imposing total of 209/9. Although Kishan perceived the early fireworks with an explosive 61 off just 24 balls, it was Pandya who anchored the middle overs with 52 in 28 balls. The two sewed together an 81-run partnership that drove India to a very strong score, but Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus counterattacked with very impressive numbers of 4/20 in his four overs.
Pandya showcased his ability to accelerate when needed, finding boundaries at will and rotating the strike effectively against Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus, who fought back with impressive figures of 4/20 from his four overs. While Kishan dominated the pitch with five sixes and six boundaries in a spectacular 20-ball fifty, the short-lived Sanju Samson had to end his brief cameo of 22 off 8 balls when he could not clear the fielder at the cow corner. Captain Suryakumar Yadav only made 12 out of 12 balls before he was stumped by left-arm spinner Bernard Scholtz, who fooled him with a ball that dipped and turned sharply on the flat Kotla pitch.
Erasmus was the best player in Namibia, and he vexed Indian batsmen with his unusual side-arm motion. His variations, such as bowling behind the crease, were the cause of the wicket of Kishan, Pandya, and Tilak Varma (25), a caution to the future struggles of India.

Pandya Completes Match-Winning Performance
If Pandayaβs batting set up the victory, his bowling sealed it. In pursuit of a difficult goal, the batting lineup of Namibia collapsed due to the pressure of the diverse bowling attack. Although spinner Varun Chakravarthy caused havoc by taking 3/7 within two overs, it was Pandya who destroyed key partnerships, ending with an impressive 2/21 in four overs.
The all-rounder was also able to bowl tight lines in the middle overs and also had a talent for taking wickets at the right time, and this helped in keeping Namibia to 116 in 18.2 overs. His variations and pace changes always kept the Namibian batsmen in trouble as they could not get him off. Axar Patel was a great support with 2/20, but the overall contribution of Pandya was the most significant in the greatest T20 World Cup victory of India.
Whatβs Next
Although the margin of victory was extensive, being the largest in T20 World Cup history, the victory was somehow routine, with India facing a very important match against Pakistan on February 15, 2026. This victory means that India only requires one more victory in their two remaining group matches to qualify for the Super Eights stage. Nevertheless, the team will have to deal with their middle-order weaknesses before they can confront Pakistan in what will be a far more serious test.Β
