The hard work, skill, and determination of the Coastal Bend and Corpus Christi Golfing community have paid off, as several top-tier golfers have qualified for State tournaments, which will be held across all UIL and TAPPS divisions.
The highly anticipated UIL girls’ State tournament is set to take place from April 28 to April 29, followed by the boys’ tournament, scheduled for May 5 to May 6.
Overview of the Qualifiers
The incredible performances at the regional level have highlighted the skills and passion of the players from Coastal Bend School, where several notable players from both girls’ and boys’ teams have qualified for the upcoming State tournament.
Among the highly qualified golfers in the tournament, Hannah Creekmore of Rockport-Fulton is set to make her presence felt for the fourth consecutive year, along with other multiple teams from different schools, including London and Gregory-Portland.

Hannah Creekmore, who is placed in the top four at the Region IV-4A tournament from Rockport-Fulton, will be serving her grace at the Legends Golf Course in Kingsland as she had a two-day score of 145 for a fourth consecutive year.
Similarly, Ava Villegas, Julianna Jimenez, Charly Renteria, Payton Freeman, and Erin Srp from London defended their regional title 3 times in a row with a two-day total of 174. Ava Villegas, who stood as a key player, also defeated her opponent, Charly Renteria, in a playoff to win the individual title.

IWA school has several talented players like Cali Rowland, Brielle Vasquez, Sarah Cory, Abbey Sachanowicz, and Bella Taylor, who overall did well at the regional tournament, where Rowland ended up being third, while Vasquez finished fifth in the TAPPS 4A.

Eliana Galvan also qualified for the state tournament. And will be representing the Centurions at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose.

Broc Talamantez from Gregory-Portland displayed his dominance at the regional matches against the 5A and captured the Region IV-5A title. Being a senior player, he scored 70 shots in the first round, followed by 77 on Day 2 to secure his position at the state.
Jace Compton, Caden Allen, Gage Hirschfield, Walker Arnold, and Russell Lowe from Calallen, a young and skilled Wildcat golf team, are set to make their debut at the state tournament after securing second position with a two-day score of 609.
Ramirez, who performed exceptionally well in the regional tournament, led to a District 31- 4A title. But along with him, Dylon Everett will be playing at the state tournament for the second time.
The squad from London will be playing at the state as the No. 2 seed in the tournament for two consecutive years. The team was captained by Trace, who had placed fifth at the regional tournament himself.
After being placed second in their region at the Region IV-2A tournament, Leo Martinez, Hudson Harris, Trace Carroll, Cohen Guevara, and Grant Shoemaker from Port Aransas are returning to the state tournament.

Matthew Martinez from IWA school, who was placed eighth overall at the TAPPS 4A South regional tournament, also qualified for the state tournament as an individual.
