India’s women’s cricket team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, is confident ahead of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 starting at home on September 30. Along with opener Smriti Mandhana and batter Jemimah Rodrigues, the team is banking on their recent form and strategies for victory in their first-ever ODI Women’s World Cup.
Team India has reached the finals twice (2005, 2017) before but falling short, but with full preparation, the team is determined to make history this time.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, two of team India’s pillars strongly believe that their recent form, improved mindset, and well-structured training camps are key factors in winning the title.
Mandhana said, “The recent team form was a result of our off-field preparations.”
Playing at home adds a powerful boost. “Playing in front of a home crowd is always special,” Harmanpreet said. “Hopefully, this time we will give our 100% and try to break that barrier which all Indian fans and we are waiting for.”
This home advantage, combined with strong recent performances, winning 9 out of 11 matches in 2025, has greatly strengthened the team’s confidence. What fuels the squad’s unbreakable resilience is a healthy balance of experienced leaders and emerging talents.

Further, intensive training camps, international tours, and the Women’s Premier League have sharpened skills and fostered team unity.
Guided by mentor Yuvraj Singh, the team is focused on the process and managing expectations to bring their best performance to the home World Cup stage.
Mandhana added, “The amount of training we are doing and the efforts in our camps are finally giving us results. Hopefully, this World Cup will be very special for us. During the last one-and-a-half months in the UK, off-field dynamics were very positive. Everyone came together as a team, working hard day in and day out.”
