Manchester United and Barcelona’s talks are in the final stage over a Marcus Rashford loan deal. The deal on the table would give the La Liga side the option to buy Rashford at the end of the season.
For those who don’t know, this move did not happen overnight. Rashford had openly stated his utmost desire to join Barcelona this summer.
He was interested in a move to Barça in January before joining Aston Villa on loan. Just last month, he said he would love to play alongside Lamine Yamal. “Yes, for sure. Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully… we’ll see,” said Rashford.
Originally, the Catalan club had their keen eye on Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, but after offers were rejected earlier in the window. Barcelona is expected to cover all of Rashford’s wages during the proposed loan, but nothing has been official.
It was further reported that Rashford has agreed to take a significant pay cut to join Barcelona.

When this proposed loan ends, Rashford will still have two seasons left on his contract with Manchester United. Back in July 2023, he penned an extension contract with United until 2028, earning £325,000 per week.

Marcus Rashford is a product of Manchester United, having joined the club at seven and playing through every youth system at the club for a decade.
He was named for the senior team in February 2016 for the UEFA Europa League against Denmark, though initially set to be on the bench, he was ultimately promoted to the senior team following Anthony Martial’s injury.
Marcus scored two goals in his debut match in a 5-1 United victory, becoming the team’s youngest ever scorer in European competition at the time.
