Pakistan is likely to miss the Asia Cup Hockey 2025. In a recent conversation with the secretary general of Hockey India, Bholanath Singh, the potential participation of Pakistan in a highly anticipated tournament is in doubt, as Hockey India will follow the decision of the government regarding this situation.
The doubt about Pakistan’s involvement in the upcoming Asia Cup came into action after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India.
Why Might Pakistan Miss the Tournament?
Asia Cup Hockey 2025, which is set to kick off in Rajgir, Bihar, from August 27 to September 7, where the host nation India, along with other teams, Japan, Korea, China, Pakistan, Malaysia, Oman, and Chinese Taipei, are set to make their presence.
The 12th edition will also serve as a qualifying tournament for next year’s World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in the Netherlands and Belgium.
However, among the participating teams, Pakistan’s participation in the tournament is in serious doubt as the Indian government is planning to rule over the decision of favoring their involvement in the tournament.
Amid the rumors, the Pakistan Hockey Federation has requested the Asian body to guarantee visas for the Asia Cup Hockey 2025.

According to the PHF senior member, participation in Pakistan is vital as it is a qualifying tournament for next year’s men’s World Cup, and they do not want to lose the opportunity to go to the World Cup via the Asia Cup.
Meanwhile, the secretary of Hockey India addressed the role of the federation in the ongoing situation. He said, “Whatever the government decides, we will abide by it. Till now, we haven’t had talks with the government on this. If the government advisory does not give an all clear, then Pakistan won’t travel to India. It all depends on the government’s position at that time.”
He further stated that even holding the position of vice-president of AHF (Asian Hockey Federation) and general secretary of Hockey India, he has no right to make a decision, as he is first a citizen of India and will follow the guidelines provided by the government.

There has been growing curiosity among fans about the potential outcome after Pakistan’s visa refusal for the Asia Cup Hockey 2025. If they are officially excluded from the tournament, then it could lead to several changes that could disrupt the essence of the tournament.
