Wrestling Legend Brock Lesnar Faces Lawsuit From UFC Veteran Mark Hunt

In the world of mixed martial arts, battles aren’t always settled inside the octagon. For former UFC fighter Mark Hunt, one of his toughest opponents isn’t just the man he faced at UFC 200 — it’s the legal fight that followed. The Hunt vs Lesnar clash has turned into one of the most talked-about controversies in UFC history.

Let’s take a closer look at how one fight led to years of courtroom drama and why Hunt is still seeking justice.

The UFC 200 Controversy: A Fight That Shouldn’t Have Happened?

Back in 2016, Brock Lesnar made a huge return to the UFC at the highly anticipated UFC 200 event. He faced Mark Hunt in a heavyweight showdown and won by unanimous decision. But his celebration of that victory didn’t last long. Lesnar tested positive for a prohibited substance prior to the bout, which was later disclosed. This was a startling development in the Hunt vs Lesnar story.

Mark Hunt, understandably outraged, claimed he had no idea Lesnar was using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). What angered him even more was his belief that the UFC and Dana White knew about it but allowed the fight to go on — allegedly for the financial benefits Lesnar brought in.

Hunt then filed a lawsuit, accusing Lesnar, White, and the UFC of fraud, conspiracy, and racketeering. He said he never agreed to step into the cage with someone who was cheating, and doing so not only affected his record but also his health, career, and earnings.

“He Threw Me Around Like a Little Kid”

Hunt recently talked candidly about the emotional and physical toll that fighting took on him in an interview with talkSPORT.

“Brock Lesnar was at a different level of strength. He threw me around like a little kid. I had no chance against someone with that strength,” Hunt said.

That unfair advantage became the focal point of the Hunt vs Lesnar legal dispute. Hunt believes the strength difference wasn’t just natural — it was enhanced by drugs. He also emphasized that the fight damaged his career. The lawsuit argues that his consent to fight was based on the assumption that both fighters were clean. Once that trust was broken, Hunt claims, it became a case of battery.

The original lawsuit was dismissed but reopened in 2021 when some of the claims — including battery and fraud — were brought back into question by an appeals court. Recently, Hunt revealed the Ninth Circuit denied a rehearing, but he remains determined, stating the case could still move up to higher courts, including the Supreme Court.

“People don’t understand or know what the case actually is. This is about changing the law. Fighters deserve to know what they’re stepping into,” Hunt said.

Still Fighting — But Now in Court

Despite multiple legal setbacks, the Hunt vs Lesnar battle is far from over. Hunt wants this case to set a precedent, not just for himself, but for every fighter who steps into the cage expecting a fair match. His legal team continues to pursue higher appeals, and Hunt says he’s ready to take the matter as far as it needs to go.

On the other hand, Lesnar received a $250,000 fine and a one-year UFC suspension. Since that incident, he has not returned to mixed martial arts.

The Hunt vs Lesnar controversy is now about more than simply a fight; it’s about athlete safety, justice, and openness in combat sports. Hunt has already made a strong statement that may have an impact on future UFC regulations and fighter protections, regardless of the outcome of his legal battle.
