The Times of India-Sports Award is right at the doorstep of all the sports fans, and kabaddi is the most anticipated sport to get maximum awards. Kabaddi players in contention for TOISA isn’t a surprise at all. However, they have done a magnificent job with their performances over the years.
The unmatched grit, determination, fitness, and results of the Pro Kabaddi League 2024 have been one of the brightest lights for Indian sport in the last couple of years. In respect to that we will be discussing kabaddi players in contention for TOISA.
Kabaddi Players Nominated For TOISA 2024
If you focus on the performance almost every Kabaddi player has been doing brilliantly over the past year. But kabaddi players in contention for TOISA are limited ones.
The selection committee has chosen both the defenders and raiders in the award contention. It will be important to see who will bag the TOISA Awards in the end.
Kabaddi players who are nominated for the awards include:
1. Nitesh Kumar( Defender)
The first player chosen for the award is Nitesh Kumar. He was the best defender for PKL 2024. Mainly in the 2024 season, Nitesh had 77 tackle points, 8 high 5’s, and 74 successful tackles.
In a total of 22 matches, Nitesh Kumar had 77 tackle points, which made him one of the hot topics for the season. It was his presence that made Tamil Thalaivas the team they turned out in that season.
2. Devank (Raider)
Similar to Nitesh Kumar, Devank was chosen as the best defender for the season. Born in Haryana, Devank wanted to be a kabaddi player right from the start. He had 301 points in PKL 2024. This was the season’s highest.
Added to that, Devank also had 18 Super 10’s for the season, which was the joint highest. Along with that, he also had 8 Super Raids which puts him as one of the kabaddi players in contention for TOISA.

3. Ayan Lohchab (Raider)
Not a lot of kabaddi fans would have heard about Ayan Lohchab, as he is a young raider, who has made ripples with his outstanding performance.
At the tender age of 20, he had 184 raid points, 193 overall points, and 156 successful raids. Not a lot of confusion as to why he was chosen as the new young player of the PKL 2024 season. He played for the Patna Raiders in PKL 2024.
4. Ashu Malik (Raider)
A legend of the kabaddi scene, Ashu Malik also makes it into the kabaddi players in contention for TOISA. Malik, who played as a right raider for Dabang Delhi, made a name for himself.
A total of 18 Super 10’s along with 265 total points, in PKL 2024, shows the value of the raider. Meanwhile, Malik also had 8 Super raids along with 11.36 average raid points, which was the second highest in the league.
5. Ankit Jaglan (Defender)
The vice-captain of Patna Pirates, who later moved into the skipper of the team, Ankit Jaglan made history with a brilliant role in the side. Jaglan made a name for himself in the 2024 season with 79 tackle points.
This was the second-highest tackle point in the season. Meanwhile, the skipper of Pirates also had 8 super tackles, 71 successful tackles, and also became the top 2 defenders of the season.
6. Aslam Inamdar (Raider)
The last entry in the list of kabaddi players in contention for TOISA is Aslam Inamdar. The skipper of Puneri Paltan, Inamdar set the standards very high for his side. At the age of 25 years, Aslam took Puneri to the title win.
Not only in the Pro Kabaddi league but he was good even at the Hangzhou Asian Games, winning India the gold medal.
Inamdar had 545 points from 70 matches in PKL, which is outstanding. Consistent performance along with a strong presence has made Aslam a player to remember on the mat.
