In the final of the 2025 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (SGVIL), Domuschola defeated Everest International School via a clean sweep to become the first-ever Shakey’s Girls Invitational League.
Micaela also talked about the pressure she had during the game, especially coming from a family where her dad is an athlete, her brother is a basketball player, and her mom is a public figure.
Reaction of Marc and Danica Sotto-Pingris
Following the conclusion of the 2025 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (SGVIL), proud father Marc was visibly happy with Micaela Pingris’s performance and the path she is taking toward a professional volleyball career.
Marc and his wife attended the event at La Salle Greenhills to witness their daughter’s passion for sports firsthand.
Marc expressed his pride and spoke about Micaela’s determination. He said, “Of course, we’re really proud. We’re so proud of how much she truly loves playing volleyball. After practice, even when she’s in her room, she keeps on training—sometimes until 1 a.m. We’d go in and tell her, ‘Enough, you need to sleep.’”
He added that although Micaela once won a gold medal in gymnastics, she confessed to him that she wanted to quit the sport because she was tired of it. However, her sudden passion for volleyball grew, and Marc fully supports her decision.
Micaela’s mother, Danica, shared her happiness in supporting their daughter’s journey following her father’s legacy in sports. “I used to cheer for Marc when he was playing, then our son got into sports, and now Micaela’s following in their footsteps. She’s only 13, so we’ve got a long way to go,” she said.
Micaela does not seem to back off from the sport too soon, as she has promised to continue playing volleyball until she becomes a pro athlete, and also her contribution to the championship match would definitely boost her confidence to march towards greatness and make her own name in volleyball.
