Recently, news of Mohamed Latheef being re-elected as the president of the Volleyball Association of Maldives circulated the headlines.
For the man, it will be his 3rd consecutive tenure. He has achieved great success with the Maldives team; hence he continues getting elected.
Mr Mohamed Latheef and several other delegates were elected for different roles during the election. Latheef is also the president of the Central Asian Volleyball Association.
Latheef Re-Elected as President of Maldives Volleyball
As the news circulated, it was revealed that through the voting system, the election was tough. A total of 13 clubs were eligible to vote in the election.
Their names include the Police Club, the Dhivehi Sifainge Club, the Addu Sports Club, the Goodies Sports Club, the Youth New Generation, the Alma Sports Club, the Club Volleyball, the Volleyball Youth New Generation, the Aspirations for All Initiative Sports Club, the Sports Club City, the Volleyball Family Association, the Volleyball Academy, the Club Half Line Linkage.
Out of the 13 clubs who were eligible to vote, only 11 were part of the election. Meanwhile, the results that came out from the election seemed one-sided, to say the least.
Mohamed Latheef’s Views After Being Elected
A lot of the fans of Maldives volleyball knew that Latheef would be re-elected for the quality of work he has done for the development of Maldives volleyball.
After being elected, Latheef took to the media and exclaimed gratitude, welcomed all of the members, and congratulated them for their contributions to the development of volleyball in Maldives.
Other than that, he also highlighted the achievements of CAM in 2024, and was happy to see the unity and collaboration amongst all members. Further, Latheef also clarified he has bigger plans for 2025.
He talked about enhancing the opportunity for volleyball players, and also thanked all the stakeholders. Lastly, Mohamed congratulated everyone who has been elected for their roles, and hopes to strengthen Maldives volleyball in general.
Beach Volleyball in Maldives in 2025
The most recent volleyball assignment, right before the election, was the National Beach Volleyball League, which took place from 5th February to 10th February.
Meanwhile, the winners of the men’s competition were Kuda Kaatte and Adam Naseem. They won the title after beating the pair of Ahmed Mohamed and Mohamed Ali.
Talking about what is next, there is a resort volleyball competition that will take place from 15th June to 30th June 2025. All interested should register by 30th May, 2025.
Executive Committee for VAM 2025
A lot of speculations were coming through that there will be a diverse selection, when we talk about the executive committee of Maldives Volleyball.
However, it was Congress, who dominated the election fully.
