The interest and likability of beach volleyball have been changing over time. Mozambique has been working hard to push itself into the highest level of beach volleyball.
The continental wins, along with the back-to-back World Championship appearances, mean that Mozambique is fighting in the right direction. It will only be important to see where they end up.
Mozambique Pursues Beach Volleyball
Mozambique is rising fast in the world of beach volleyball. With strong support from the FIVB Empowerment program, the countryβs teams have made significant progress in both regional and international stages.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of its players, especially stars like Ana Paula Sinaportar and Vanessa Muianga, Mozambique is not just competing, but winning. The team has already earned medals at major events like the African Games and Zone VI Tour.
Now, Mozambique is aiming even higher, with its eyes set on the next FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. Itβs an exciting time for the country, as it continues to grow and play among the best in the world.

Views from Mozambique Volleyball President
As progress continues for the Mozambique volleyball team, Afzal Vala, the president of the Volleyball Federation, seems more than happy.
Vala said that Mozambique is blessed to have players with a high level of skills and the dream to make it big in volleyball.
Since 2013, Mozambique has shown strong performances in both regional and continental competitions. Vala says this proves the team is on the right path. He also praised former president Khalid Cassam for playing a key role in the sportβs development in the country.
Challenges For the Mozambique Volleyball Team
Even though the president, Vala, was more than positive about the team and its performance abilities, the challenges to make it to the elite will be tough.
- Money Issues: The teams donβt always have enough money to join international competitions or get the best training. Sometimes, they need help to cover travel costs for big events.
- Balancing Other Responsibilities: Many players are not full-time athletes. They have to juggle volleyball with school or work, which means they canβt always focus on training.
- Lack of Resources: Mozambique still doesnβt have the same advanced training facilities or support as other countries with stronger volleyball teams, making it harder to improve.
- Tough Competition: Mozambique competes against countries with more experience and better resources in volleyball, which makes it difficult to reach the top.
